Cheese and Sour Cream Lángos

Cheese and sour cream lángos may be one of the best-loved types of lángos. The soft, almost pull-apart dough, mild on its own, is perfectly complemented by the flavorful cheese and sour cream.

Of course, cheese and sour cream lángos is nothing complicated if you already know how to make lángos. Essentially, all you need is grated cheese and sour cream.

But it’s often helpful to know the exact amounts, especially before going shopping, for example. So here I’m giving you a rough guide to how much cheese and sour cream to count on when making a good cheese and sour cream lángos.

Basic Lángos Recipe

For homemade cheese and sour cream lángos, you’ll need a good basic lángos recipe. I’m giving you two options here, depending on whether you want potato lángos or plain lángos:

Ingredients

  • ¾ cup plus 1 tablespoon sour cream 200 ml
  • 7 oz cheese, grated 200 g
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • Salt
  • 4 lángos see the article for links to two recipes for making the lángos

Instructions

  • First, make the lángos. You can find two basic recipes from me for this: one is potato lángos, and the other is plain lángos.
  • Meanwhile, make the garlic water, which, in my opinion, is also an essential seasoning for cheese and sour cream lángos. To do this, finely chop or press 3 cloves of garlic, add a little salt, and pour in about 3 tablespoons plus 1 teaspoon (½ dl) water.
  • Grate the cheese on the smaller holes of a grater. For one regular lángos, count on roughly 1¾ oz (5 dkg / 50 g) cheese.
  • Once the lángos is fried, it’s time to add the toppings. First, brush it with the garlic water, using as much as you like. Salt it to taste as well.
  • Spread it with sour cream, leaving about ¾–1¼ inches (2–3 cm) around the edge. For one lángos, count on about 3 heaping tablespoons of sour cream, which is 2 oz (55 g) or 3–3½ tablespoons (45–50 ml).
  • Finally, sprinkle the cheese and sour cream lángos generously with the grated cheese, and salt to taste.
  • Serve hot, and eat it warm and fresh!
